What Can You Do?

What Can You Do?

Let’s pretend …

Suppose you and I were invited into our local big
box/hardware store and told, “Go make something that will benefit mankind.  You can use anything in this store, any tool you find, and you have a week to complete your project.”

Wanna know where I would head?  I’d go to the computer, open up a word document and start writing.  My secret power is my ability to use words to offer hope, encouragement and inspiration.

Some might head for the power tools, or the lumber section, or any of a hundred other areas.  And they probably have skills using those tools.

I suppose I could get lost in some of those areas as well, and waste a bit of time, but I know myself, my strengths, my heart’s desire, and so I choose to use my best skills and interests in crafting an encouraging and hope-filled document.

Never get side-tracked by what you can’t do.  Do what you can, with what you have.

What’s your secret power?

This is my
morning reflection.

Thinking and Becoming

Thinking and Becoming

The mind is everything.
What you think, you become

We still don’t get it.  The power of the human mind is, well, a power.  We make our destinies in our minds first.
   How we see self.
      How we see life.
         How we see opportunities.

It all starts in the mind.

If I were to give you ten steps toward a better whatever, it would start with this one … and then I would stop.  You can add the other nine or ninety or whatever number you come up with.

Think!  Have you ever set aside time to think … about your life, your interests, what you are good at doing, what makes your heart beat faster, and what you would do if you could do anything in the world?

I shall never forget the day I set aside time to tackle these timely puzzles.  And I came up with this … I am an encourager.  I love to see the light come into someone’s heart and mind because I was a catalyst for good in something I wrote or said.

I seek out opportunities now to do that very thing.

Everything … E V E R Y T H I N G we touch or see or hold in our hands came about because someone first had the thought that it could be, and then sought for ways to make it come into being.

Dare to think bold thoughts!

This is my
morning reflection.

More Than What's on the Page

More Than What’s on the Page

I’m caught up in this idea of ‘more than what’s on the page.’  It has so many ramifications for our lives, when you seriously think about it.  I have a feeling this idea will find itself in other writings in days and months to come.  Hmmm.

Jazz musicians know this.  If they only played the page in front of them, we wouldn’t have jazz.  We wouldn’t have expressions, tempo changes, riffs, trills, major seventh and flatted sixth chords.  We would have less than exciting music, if they played just what is on the page.

You have a job, a life, skills and talents.  Are you playing only what is on the page in all of those areas?  I don’t think so.  You add your spice, your touch, your unique way of doing and seeing, living and being alive, and that is what makes life interesting and even exciting.

Some have called this ‘painting outside the box’.

Some call it ‘creativity’.

This I know … when I push my boundaries and the push succeeds, then I’ve done more than what is on the page, and that is good … very good.

Go find what else you can do with the page you stare at daily.

This is my
morning reflection.
