More Than What's on the Page

More Than What’s on the Page

I’m caught up in this idea of ‘more than what’s on the page.’  It has so many ramifications for our lives, when you seriously think about it.  I have a feeling this idea will find itself in other writings in days and months to come.  Hmmm.

Jazz musicians know this.  If they only played the page in front of them, we wouldn’t have jazz.  We wouldn’t have expressions, tempo changes, riffs, trills, major seventh and flatted sixth chords.  We would have less than exciting music, if they played just what is on the page.

You have a job, a life, skills and talents.  Are you playing only what is on the page in all of those areas?  I don’t think so.  You add your spice, your touch, your unique way of doing and seeing, living and being alive, and that is what makes life interesting and even exciting.

Some have called this ‘painting outside the box’.

Some call it ‘creativity’.

This I know … when I push my boundaries and the push succeeds, then I’ve done more than what is on the page, and that is good … very good.

Go find what else you can do with the page you stare at daily.

This is my
morning reflection.

Maybe We Shouldn't Wait

Maybe We Shouldn’t Wait

They should have waited.  The winds weren’t exactly right.  And mankind didn’t know enough about the stars and planets and universe yet for this kind of thing.  And they spent a lot of money on research and development.

They should have waited.

But the Wright brothers marched into flight.  They literally flew by the seat of their pants, and learned.  And next week, CB hops on a plane and will fly to Zambia, Africa in 16 hours.

Have all the stars properly aligned perfectly for your
adventures and projects?  Probably not.

And we do them anyway.

In some of my writing, I would like a few do-over’s, yet I still charge ahead.  I’ve learned as I go, and you have too.

Got an idea?  Got a burning desire?  Now might be the best time to do the very thing that is on your mind.

This is nothing more than an encouraging piece to say “Gather your stuff, your ideas, your tools, your ‘want’ bag and your ‘will to do' and go do the thing that is in your mind.

Today is a good day to make a start.

This is my
morning reflection.

Think the Unthinkable

Think the Unthinkable

I can’t leave this idea alone.  We have a lot of good in our
world today simply because someone dared think the unthinkable.

It started with fire and the wheel.  Some caveman or woman in some long-forgotten cave saw a spark from a flint wheel, or perhaps from some lightning strike.  That was all it took.  And the same for the wheel.  Maybe someone saw a rock rolling down a cliff and he or she began to put two and two together.

And today … because some somebodies decided to think of what was possible instead of barriers, we have such gadgets as computers, the telephone, cell phones, trips into space, Velcro, giant companies like Amazon, and beyond.

Just today, Carolyn and I paid a visit to a Sprouts grocery store.  There are a dozen grocery stores within a one mile radius of the one we visited, yet their take on doing food stuffs exceeds much of what the other stores do and how they think.

They think the unthinkable.

What can you think of that is, before now, still locked and unknown.

We need your thinking.
We need the constant inflow of ideas.

It’s called creativity.
It’s called ‘asking why, or why not.’

This is my
morning reflection.
